These are beckoning lyrics written over 45 years ago now, but even more relevant for these turbulent times. But what may “get back to garden” mean to each of us on a personal level? And what of this “bargain” that is mentioned?
In the tradition of the indigenous Andean Medicine people they were never thrown out of the garden. They don’t have a myth that tells of their fall from Grace and ultimate separation from God. They continue to live from a place of connection with their creator and all of nature, a natural world that loves and supports them. They source from a story that there is a continuing benevolent force that is available to them as they Journey through this life. Theirs is a journey of direct experience with all the forces of life and light.
So coming back to this garden speaks to our remembering who we are as Divine Spirit and being able to live from life, fully supported, in a Sacred Myth instead of story of struggle and limitation. From this place we find ourselves living a spirit driven life, not a fear driven one, living with life’s flow, innately understanding the connection and reverence to all of nature/creation. We remember how to align with our “inner Shaman” and our helping spirits as we navigate the challenges of life. We begin to see challenges as initiations and opportunities that facilitate our growth and healing toward a more open heart and deeper connection with the flow of life. We go deep into the Soul’s journey rather than resisting and we experience life with more power and compassion.
However to move forward we must understand the “bargains” we have made, the old stories that we’ve bought into, the cultural myths we follow, the way of being we’ve created to protect ourselves from fear. Using our spiritual practices and the tools we learn we can shift these stories and beliefs, go beyond our circumstances and recover our center of joy. When we can do that we can begin to be the actor instead of reactor in the unique myths we write ourselves. We are unlikely to fall into the fears around us.
We can learn to identify and rewrite our personal myth and make it an epic story. We can learn to journey with our helping spirits for guidance and support, to center into our heart and strong eye, and have a map and practice that helps us negotiate fearful emotions so we stay in our joy, sourcing from our spirit.
Then we are living a deeply soulful life in service to our world. Join me……
